A suspected serial robber and murderer, 27-year-old Romaine Reid, also known as Bad Chargie, was fatally shot during a confrontation with an off-duty police officer in Westmoreland Friday night. It is alleged that Reid and an accomplice had earlier robbed multiple victims, including a 20-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl, and another woman, before being pursued by police. Reid reportedly fired at the officers before being shot. He was wanted for several other robberies and murders in the parish.
